Print image just doesn't do here. MUST SEE TRAILER BEFORE PROCEEDING:
So, anyone remember Kevin Bacon in Quicksilver (1986)? He played a bike messenger in San Francisco. Well, Premium Rush is Quicksilver on steroids!
Most movie FUN I've had in a long time. I kept looking for a seatbelt in the theatre! It is exhilarating, suspenseful, and breath-taking. A bonus for me were all the NYC sites, particularly as our bike messenger, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who's evolved very nicely as an actor from early 3rd Rock From the Sun days), takes us through my daughter's old neighborhood on Upper B'way.
Fabulous camera work!!! Amazing stunts. Supreme athleticism on the part of the actors.
Michael Shannon (whom I don't know at all) was scene-stealing in the supporting role as Nasty Nemesis. He combined just the right blend of very scary dude whom we can actually laugh at. Go figure.
Go OUT to the movies and see this one in a dark theatre with a large screen. You will think you are on a speed rocket in Manhattan. It is, indeed, a premium rush for film-goers.
Enjoy!
Valerie, I loved the trailer! This looks like a high-octane thriller! I really enjoy this genre. I am reminded of The Transporter...on a bike! I never saw Quicksilver, and I'm a Kevin Bacon fan, so I must do some homework! Anther film in this run-like-hell genre worth seeing: Drive Angry. The very best of the bunch: Shoot Em Up (with Paul Giamatti)
ReplyDeleteOMG I just watched the trailer and it IS crazy! I definitely want to check this out as I have developed a major crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt since "Brick," "500 Days of Summer" and "Inception." I trust his film choices.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a thrill ride, though for a lady who was too afraid of NYC drivers to ever buy a bike, I don't know if I can handle the stress!
Hi Jenna! So you dig Joseph G-L? If so, this film looks perfect for you! The theme of the chased deliveryman is gaining popularity. I think mostly of the Transporter series, which I mentioned above. But the most fun of all, in my mind, is the crazy one called Shoot Em Up. In this film, the package is, of all things, an infant! So picture the hero holding the infant in the crook of his arm as he runs down streets shooting the baddies! Fun! Anyway, I think wise ol' Val dug up a winner for us all with this bike thriller! I will indeed make a point of seeing it. David
