Frozen

With the grandkids growing up, I don't get a chance to watch many Disney films.  I am a great fan of Disney animated features:  Just can't say enough wonderful things about Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and others.

Frozen has been getting huge buzz. Many say it's the best animated film of all time.  So, being both a movie reviewer and grandpa, I begged my near-adolescent granddaughters to humor me and join me for some Disney fun.  They said yes!

Frozen is a delight.  I will never be a spoiler, so I will say little about the plot.  One of the two sisters pictured above has magic powers that she can't quite control:  she turns everything around her to ice!  She has had this power since being a small child, and it has created some major problems for her.

A bit more: The girl with the special ice powers is a princess.  No one must know about her uncanny knack for changing the world into ice!  What if someone finds out?  Oh my!  When hardships arise, thank goodness for her loving sister.

That said, the rest of my comments are about the animation and music:  fantastic!  Watch as landscapes turn to ice.  Listen as a new round of great songs emerges.  My granddaughters sang along with every song as I watched, so it would seem that the songs are already hugely popular.

Disney has magic.  Always has.  Hopefully always will.  I just happen to love the whole Disney industry, from Disneyland to Disney World, from Mickey Mouse to Donald Duck, from Davy Crockett to Bambi.

Make-believe is great!  With a world so full of wars and turmoil, there is nothing quite like returning to the pristine world of Disney, where prince charmings save damsels, kindness wins out over cruelty, and  good triumphs over evil.  Take me to that world, please!

Bottom line:  Frozen is a master cartoon story.  A pure joy.  You don't have to watch with little ones.  Just sit back and escape to never-never land!
